Heavy Duty Mechanic

Central Island Distributors in Nanaimo has an immediate opening for a Lead hand Heavy Duty Mechanic in our 4 bay Nanaimo shop for preventative maintenance and repairs as needed on Company owned trucks and trailers.

This is a permanent day shift position Tuesday to Saturday (8 hours/day)

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Perform repairs and diagnosis on all types of heavy trucks and trailers
Pre- CVI inspections
Maintain a safe and clean working environment
Coordinate work including sourcing parts from our suppliers.
Provide guidance for 2 other junior mechanics to perform quality work in a safe and productive manner.
You will be required to provide you own basic hand tools
Qualifications

A journeyman ticket is welcomed but not required for those with equivalent experience.
Welding and minor fabrication skills
Leadership skills and ability to manage a productive flow of work for the shop.
Proactive attitude to ensure company equipment is well maintained and in good state of repair.
Strong attention to detail, and good planning skills
Desire to work with management to help grow the abilities of our shop.
